About Henry Stewart-Wood

IMG_4475.jpg

I’m Henry Stewart-Wood, a visual journalist working in the Puget-Sound area of Washington state. I cover everything from city life to county council meetings in a wide range of mediums.

Although I earned my degree in visual journalism from Western Washington University, I am not limited to one medium. I enjoy writing stories as much as I enjoy shooting the events that create them. I like to choose the medium or mediums that offer the best platform for telling a specific story. A photo series of a school board meeting doesn’t explain the important decisions that were made just as paragraphs of text can’t display the ambiance of a downtown art walk.

The ability to tell stories in a variety of mediums whether it be for print or online is a necessity in the age of digital journalism and it is something I excel at, be it print, video or photo.

I believe the role of a journalist is to uplift the public by telling their stories and keeping them informed. My goal as a journalist is to provide the people in my community with the information they need and deserve in order to make decisions in their own lives.
